Last month, the final text of the Cosmetics Europe’s Double Plate Method (DPM) (ISO 23675:2024) was published and officially recognised as an International Standard Organisation (ISO) Standard by the ISO Central Secretariat.

Running from 13th to 16th January, the Beyond the Surface portrait exhibition showcases the stories of 11 individuals - from a young mother to a cancer survivor, a dermatologist, a dancer, a hairdresser and more… They all share their personal relationships and experiences with cosmetics and personal care products and talk about the impact these have had on their lives.

The Cosmetics Europe Annual Conference (CEAC) is a unique event, organised yearly, that brings together cosmetic and personal care industry leaders from all over the world to share insights on global trends and the latest industry developments. CEAC 2025 will take place in person, in Brussels, on 11 and 12 June.

Brussels, 5 November – Today, at the Economic and Financial Affairs Council meeting, the Member States adopted the final text of the recast of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD). Cosmetics Europe remains highly concerned about the fairness and effectiveness of the adopted Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme. Some of the industry’s concerns were also echoed by 16 Members States during the Council meeting.

As the European Parliament prepares for the confirmation hearings of the new Commissioners, the Open Trade Coalition is reiterating its call for a bold and open EU trade policy.

Brussels, 17 June 2024 – Cosmetics Europe welcomes the adoption of the General Approach on the Proposal for a Directive on substantiation and communication of explicit environmental claims (Green Claims Directive, GCD) by the Council.

Brussels, 24 April 2024 – Cosmetics Europe welcomes the formal adoption of the provisional agreement on the revision of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) by the European Parliament. However, Cosmetics Europe remains concerned about some of the elements of the agreement.

Brussels, 23 April 2024 – Cosmetics Europe and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) today welcomed the European Parliament vote on the revision of the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packing of chemicals (CLP). The vote confirms the text agreed between the co-legislators and will help support the future of the natural ingredients used in cosmetics and fragrances.

Cosmetics Europe has recently joined the European Elections 2024 campaign of the European Parliament as a communication partner.

26 March 2024, BRUSSELS – Following the launch of the Italian language app earlier this month, today Cosmetics Europe makes the COSMILE Europe app available in four additional languages, including Bulgarian, Finnish, Greek and Lithuanian – expanding the total number of languages to 13.

21 March 2024 – Providing safe and effective cosmetic products to consumers is a priority for the cosmetics and personal care industry. Therefore, Cosmetics Europe is very concerned about the report published today by the Spanish Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) that questions the efficacy of certain sunscreen products available on the European market.

Brussels, 30 January 2024 – During the second political trilogue that took place yesterday, the negotiators from the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission reached a provisional agreement on the revision of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD). Cosmetics Europe (CE) takes note of the agreement yet still questions the fairness of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system being put in place and ultimately its effectiveness in meeting the main objective of the Directive, which is to address water pollution.

Cosmetics Europe has just launched “Commit for Our Planet”, a Cosmetics Industry Sustainability Initiative, with the goal to reduce the sector’s environmental footprint in Europe.
